Jan 23, 2014 Australian Open 2014 Fitness, Lifestyle Newly engaged Caroline Wozniacki. Rafa on the warm up courts. Mornings before work. In the Medibank ‘Have a Hit’ site polishing my forehand. My favourite player on tour, Daniela Hantuchova! Reporting on Heineken Day. When host Hamish McLachlan prepares his notes, Vitamin D helps. On a 44 degree day was nice to chat to Belinda Bencic in the Melb Aquarium. Answering Q’s from the Social Shack. Tomas Berdych and his girlfriend Ester Satorova get into the Australian spirit. Crosses from the merchandise store! This year I got to work with Channel Seven on the Sydney International + Australian Open coverage. What an experience! As a roving reporter I had the opportunity to meet the players and get to know them away from the tennis court. As I’m studying health & nutrition I was eager to ask about their diets before, during and after tournaments. When I met Caroline Wozniacki in Sydney she was due to play the following day but happily lined up for an ice-cream with chocolate topping. I found this refreshing! Literally. My favourite player was Slovakian Daniela Hantuchova who made it to the 3rd round, defeated by #1 Serena Williams. She is classically trained on the piano, a great cook, designs fashion, blogs, one of the best players in the world and completely down to earth. #Amazing. My favourite game to watch was Hewitt V Seppi. Despite Hewitt losing it was incredible to watch his fighting spirit and courage. On the edge of my seat every point! There is so much work that goes on behind the scenes to bring an event like this to the television screen. I felt so lucky to work on the coverage with a motivated, fun & intelligent team and I want to thank the entire crew for making the last month the best start to my working year!
